Calabazo Liso (Calabash).
This piece takes the form of a pumpkin. Historically pumpkins were used to transport water by working Mexican farmers and by women who brought water to their families from the rivers, as the pumpkin kept the water fresh and pure. This tradition has died out, so we feel it is important for the next generations to understand the transcendence of this object, and how we can use art to bring it alive.
