Dennis de Caires was born in 1957 in Georgetown, Guyana and studied painting at Winchester School of Art, The Royal College of Art in London and Cité Internationale Des Arts in Paris.
He has exhibited widely over the past twenty-five years in both public and private galleries and was given a retrospective at The National Gallery of Art, Guyana in 2009 – 10. His work is represented in a wide range of private and corporate collections and notable public collections, including The British Council; Hampshire County Council; The Georgia Museum of Art, USA; De Montfort University; Glyndwr University, Wales; The National Gallery of Art, Guyana and The Art Collection Foundation of Barbados.
De Caires has taught at a number of institutions in England, America and the Caribbean. He is currently Professor of Fine Art at Richmond, The American International University in London and serves as the External Examiner for The Burrowes School of Art in Guyana. He lives and works in London and Barbados.
