Zari Gallery is proud to share our recent collaboration with Liverpool Hope University, highlighting our strong engagement and sponsorship at their Degree Show of 2023. As always, we aim to foster growth, exposure, and opportunities for emerging artists, aligning seamlessly with the university’s ethos.
The evening was electric, packed with an exhibition of exceptional works from fine art students, speeches brimming with pride and gratitude, and the much-anticipated prize ceremony. Tony Smith, Programme Leader and Professional Tutor in Fine Art opened the ceremony with a speech praising the resilience and creativity of students who had faced unprecedented challenges in their journey. He applauded the high-standard exhibition stating, “These students… are flourishing as artists and Practitioners.”
Following Tony Smith, Professor Stephen Davismoon, Dean of the School of Creative and Performing Arts and Head of Creative Campus, recognized the dedication of the students and the support received from the teaching staff, the technical team, and the gallery partners.
The Vice-Chancellor and Rector of Liverpool Hope University, Professor Claire Ozanne, echoed these sentiments, expressing admiration for the international students’ hard work and creativity. She also commended the region’s commitment to the arts and the students’ potential future impact on culture, community, and economic development.
Highlighting the role of Zari Gallery was our very own Georgina Dhillon, who presented the prestigious Zari Gallery awards. Georgina passionately described our gallery’s role in London, providing a platform for students to extend their works and gain exposure. Georgina expressed how inclusive and diverse the works of Liverpool Hope University students were, encapsulating themes such as politics, emotion, anger, grace, and love.
The 2023 Zari Gallery awards were presented to four incredibly talented artists: Katy Evans, Aikaterini Piticary, Sarah Delaney, and Varsha Manglam. We are thrilled to allow these individuals to exhibit their works at our central London location, fostering their artistic growth. We also recognized the ongoing support of three past students – Casey Edwards, Sophie Elsden, and Kelly Irvine – who have been invited to return to Zari Gallery following their successful exhibitions last year.
As Zari Gallery continues its mission of supporting emerging artists, we are proud of our partnership with Liverpool Hope University. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all students who exhibited their works at the Degree Show 2023, and we look forward to fostering an ongoing relationship with the university and its promising artists.
