Zari Gallery presents ‘Colour in Motion’ an exhibition showing emerging artist Anne Knights’ work. Comprising slab built ceramic vessels, handmade lampshades using digital designs and acrylic abstract paintings.
The collection of Anne Knight’s work explores shape, form, colour and expressive mark-making inspired by architecture, coastal landscape and mid-century textile design. Knight’s work looks to capture a sense of freedom and joy through the layering of intuitive marks and brush strokes. A playful surface expresses a personal visual language that ranges from simple line illustrations to bold, abstract designs. Anne Knight commented, “I find the colours I use in my work heart-warming and joyful, giving me a sense of wellbeing as I try to capture the world around me using a bright, energetic palette, enjoying seeing architectural and landscape features appearing as my work progresses.” Overall, Knights’ intention is to offer vibrant, uplifting objects and surfaces that would create distinction, warmth and ambience in people’s homes.
Anne Knight lives and works in Liverpool, UK and after finishing her long career as an NHS Nurse, she went on to study BA Design at Liverpool Hope University (graduating in 2020) then followed on with the Artist Benevolent Fund, Step Change Fellowship Programme (2020 – to date). Recent exhibitions include, ‘The 2020 Graduate award’ in 2021 and ‘The New Makers’ exhibition in 2022, both at The Bluecoat Display Centre, Liverpool.
